I’m a software developer focused on full-stack web development, with strong technical skills in ASP.NET, Blazor, and Vue, and over three years of hands-on experience building and maintaining commercial systems. My work at DEV4 Online spans bespoke client projects and an equipment management platform; I’ve also supported onboarding and training for new team members, helping share the tools and practices that keep our collaborative workflow effective.
My formal education includes an MSci in Computer Science (with Merit) and an HNC in Computing (grade A). My development journey began in high school, where I experimented with game servers, batch scripts and Visual Basic. At college, I learned the fundamentals of full-stack web development, including PHP, introductory Java and SQL databases, while studying Node.js in my own time. Alongside my university coursework, I taught myself Vue.js. My university modules in object-oriented programming with Java, SQL and NoSQL databases, AI, networking and cybersecurity strengthened my foundation. During my placement year at DEV4 Online, I applied my Java knowledge to C#, moved from Node.js to ASP.NET, introduced Vue to the team and adopted Blazor as a primary front-end tool in line with the team’s existing practices.
I’ve also pursued self-directed research. One educational project, Crimson, explored whether generating backends from frontend components could improve developer efficiency. On the personal side, as a type 1 diabetic I built a feature-rich application called Bolus Calculator to help manage insulin dosage with carbohydrate tracking via Open Food Facts and a bespoke secondary API. While the app was ultimately retired due to concerns around lack of testing and ageing infrastructure, it remains one of my most meaningful exercises in balancing technical execution with personal impact.
Recently, I have taken a particular interest in automated testing and code quality. I am currently reading Architecting ASP.NET Core Applications: An atypical design patterns guide for .NET 8, C# 12, and beyond, Third Edition by Carl-Hugo Marcotte. This book covers various topics such as the SOLID principles, automated testing, and design patterns. I highly recommend it.
This website exists to document my journey, to give me a place to share technical insights and other non-technical topics. I’m settled and happy in my current role and not pursuing new employment, but I value meaningful conversations and occasional collaboration.
When I step away from the keyboard, I’m curious about the world beyond my hometown, different landscapes, and cultures. So travel posts are to be expected on my blog.
