Who is responsible for your information?

I, Adam Govier, am the data controller for personal information that I collect through this website. You can contact me about privacy or data protection at contact@adamgovier.co.uk.

Information I collect

Contact form and email

If you contact me, I may collect:

• your name, if you provide it;
• your email address;
• the contents of your message; and
• later correspondence about your enquiry.

My form provider also processes technical information such as your IP address, browser user agent, request time, and spam-detection data. Please do not include health information or other sensitive personal information in the contact form.

Website requests

This website is hosted by GitHub Pages. When you visit it, GitHub logs your IP address for security. GitHub may also process request details such as the requested page, date and time, browser, device, and referring page. I do not receive a visitor-level analytics dashboard from this website.

Fonts, icons, and external media

The site retrieves fonts from Google Fonts and icons from Font Awesome. Some pages can also retrieve an image from an external host. Your browser sends the provider the technical information needed to return that file, including your IP address, browser details, and the requested resource.

Why I use your information

I use personal information for the following purposes and legal bases:

• To respond to an enquiry: my legitimate interest in receiving and answering messages that people choose to send me.
• To discuss work or a contract: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, where this applies.
• To operate and protect the website: my legitimate interest in providing a reliable site and preventing spam, fraud, and security incidents.
• To meet legal requirements: compliance with a legal obligation or my legitimate interest in establishing, exercising, or defending legal claims.

Your name is optional. I need a valid email address if you want a reply. If you do not provide enough information to understand your enquiry, I might not be able to answer it.

Service providers and other recipients

I use the following providers:

• PostTo: Lindgaard.net, Norway, receives, checks, temporarily stores, and delivers contact-form submissions. PostTo is my processor for submission data. Read the PostTo privacy policy and data processing agreement.
• My email provider: delivers and stores messages so that I can respond to you.
• GitHub Pages: hosts this website and processes security logs. Read GitHub's Pages data-collection information and privacy statement.
• Google Fonts: provides web fonts. Google states that Fonts requests are unauthenticated and do not send cookies. Read the Google Fonts privacy information and Google privacy policy.
• Font Awesome: provides the site's icon files. Read the Font Awesome privacy policy.

I do not sell personal information or use contact details for marketing. I may disclose information when the law requires it or when it is necessary to protect legal rights.

International transfers

PostTo is operated in Norway and uses primary infrastructure in Europe. The UK has adequacy regulations covering Norway and the European Economic Area. PostTo states that it can use Postmark in the United States as a backup email-delivery provider and uses standard contractual clauses for that onward transfer.

GitHub, Google, and Font Awesome are international providers and may process technical information outside the UK. Where a restricted transfer occurs, the provider's applicable adequacy arrangement or contractual safeguards protect the information. Contact me if you want more information about these safeguards.

How long I keep information

• PostTo automatically deletes contact-form content after seven days under the plan used for this site.
• I normally delete general enquiries and related emails within 12 months of our last contact.
• I can keep information for longer if it relates to ongoing work, a contract, a legal duty, or a legal claim. I will keep it only for as long as that purpose requires.
• Hosting and external-resource providers keep technical logs under their own retention schedules.

Cookies and analytics

I do not use website analytics, advertising trackers, or profiling tools. The site's own code does not currently set cookies or store identifiers in your browser. External providers handle requests for hosting, fonts, icons, and other files under their own privacy notices.

Automated processing

PostTo uses automated checks to detect spam and abuse. A check can hold or reject a message. I do not use automated decision-making that produces a legal or similarly significant effect on you.

Your data-protection rights

Depending on the circumstances, you can ask me to:

• give you a copy of your personal information;
• correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
• delete your information;
• restrict how I use your information;
• provide eligible information in a portable format; or
• stop processing based on legitimate interests.

These rights can have legal limits. I may ask for information to confirm your identity before I act on a request. Contact contact@adamgovier.co.uk to make a request.

Data-protection complaints

Email contact@adamgovier.co.uk and state that you are making a data-protection complaint. Include enough information for me to understand the issue. I will acknowledge the complaint within 30 days, investigate it, keep you informed where needed, and provide an outcome without undue delay.

I will update this page when the site's data use or service providers change. The date at the top shows the latest revision.
